Divine Forgetfulness

Philippians 3:13 - Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, (KJV)

Divine forgetfulness allows us the grace to become unrecognizable concerning who we used to be. However, we must recognize that what we gaze at will inevitably be what we become, beloved. If we remain transfixed on the past, we will never change. If we fix our gaze on Jesus, we are being transfigured, daily.

The lie the devil wants us to believe is that we can continue living the way we did in our past and still become like Christ in our future. If we have truly been raised with Christ, then we will be seeking those things above and desiring to forget those things which used to bring us sinful pleasure(Colossians 3:1-2). This is the true hope of our salvation!
