Eternity in the Heart of Man

Ecclesiastes 3:11 - He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end. (KJV)

Time has its purpose, to give structure to our lives. However, there is also the deep, abiding longing within the heart of every person for eternity. The conundrum of eternity's great mystery – its lack of explanation – and our desire to embrace it are constant dynamics which keep us longing for the everlasting. To put it simply, we are immortal beings trapped inside mortality.

Yet, the more we gaze at the Eternal One, the result is increased glimpses into our uniform destinies. Beloved, it is what all creation yearns for, the swallowing up of time-bound creation by the eternal. Come Lord, Jesus!
