Luke 22:28-29 - Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations. And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me; (KJV)
What kingdom do we imagine we will one day inherit? To say we are a rightful heir of God and yet live no differently than those of the world mocks God's intent. Jesus desires nothing less from us but to love Him as He loves the Father and to lay down our lives for others.
Are we standing with Jesus in His trials? They continue to this day, even though He has been seated by the Father for nearly 2,000 years. We are brought before the scrutiny of the world's court daily to determine if we live like Christ. It is superfluous to believe that God will bequeath His kingdom to those who have not lived like His Son upon this earth. Are we in love with the Savior? Are we clinging to Him and are we "guilty as charged" of loving a hateful world? If so, we should rejoice in God's kingdom that will surely be ours to share.
